The Ark of Safety

Ol' Brother Noah
Let us think about the plight of Noah. He must have appeared to be a small and insignificant figure in his day - a religious nut building a silly thing and declaring that the world would be destroyed by water. But Noah was faithful to the task that God gave him. He built the ark to the exact specifications that God gave him. He stocked it with food for his family and for the animals. (Genesis 6:21-22) He was obedient to the Lord in a time when the "wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Genesis 6:5) "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. All flesh had corrupted their way on the earth." (Genesis 6:11, 12b) "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." (Genesis 6:8) "And Noah did according to all the Lord
commanded him." (Genesis 7:5)
Now let us move forward to the time of Christ and His prophecy of the end times: "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." (Matthew 24:37-39 NKJV)
We live in a day in which folks are so busy living, enjoying their fleshly pursuits, that they have no interest in God. Once again, violence fills the earth. Man's thoughts and intents are only evil continually. There are a few Noahs around however - those who have found grace in the eyes of the Lord - those who are saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are the ones who believe God and are willing to stand for Him in a wicked world. We, like Noah, are called to preach to a generation that does not want to
hear our message. Just as Noah was obedient to the Word of the Lord and followed God's instructions to the letter, we also are called to follow God's instructions.
We have an Ark of Safety that we shall one day enter - the Lord Jesus Christ. At that time the earth again will be destroyed by fire, and the wicked along with it. Will we, like Noah, be found faithful?
