Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
Kelly Blacklock
Monday February 17, 2025
Good morning
“Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.” Acts 8:1
“His death” in the above verse is Stephen, the first martyr for Christ.
Stephen was said to… “…And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit” Acts 6:5a
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.” Acts 6:8
“And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.” Acts 6:15
“When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,” Acts 7:54-55
“And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:59-60
Look again at the first verse above …”and they scattered into the regions of Judea and Samaria”
And now see this…
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me (Jesus) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” Acts 1:8
My conclusion: ‘why do bad things happen to good people’
… In this case Stephen became the first martyr in order for the Word of the Gospel of TRUTH of JESUS to spread as Jesus foretold to the disciples.

GOOD NEWS

Ephesians 1:13-14 NLT
And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. [14] The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
So sometimes we can forget what this is all about. Our life, the breath in our lungs, or the simple mundane task that we do each and every day. Remember when God said do everything as into the Lord.
Good question???
As we go through this day let us reflect upon this and give him the praise that he so deserves. He didn't have to but he did it anyway, he didn't walk away he drew closer, he didn't leave you where you were he offered to pull you out, let us reflect on this, and I'm sure that we will be way more willing to embrace the amount of praise he deserves.
Father today I thank you for not leaving us where we were. Father I thank you for all of my brothers and sisters that you have given me through this path of life. Father I just ask that you watch over them that you guide them that you put a hedge of protection on their minds on their strength and give them the courage to go forward today proclaiming what you have done for them. I asked today God that you put a special hedge of protection around my family in my absence. Amen
Obedience; Not Walking Away

Good morning
“And she said, “O my Lord! As your soul lives, my Lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord. For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.”
I Samuel 1:26-28
I have tried and tried to find an answer to my question of what would happen if Samuel when he came of age decided to walk away from his mother’s vow on his lifetime of service dedicated to the Lord?
Hannah prayed so fervently to the Lord to allow her to conceive and carry to term a baby so that she might give him back to the Lord; Eli the priest thought she was drunk while she prayed.
Hannah has Samuel and only keeps him until he is weaned. Takes him to the temple and “lends” him to the Lord for his lifetime. What keeps Samuel there?
Hannah comes every year with his siblings as Hannah was allowed to conceive again and again - “her womb was opened”. Yet Samuel didn’t hold a grudge against his mother, father or siblings.
No abandonment issues? No begging to come home.
God said every first born who opens the womb is the Lords. But Hannah gave Samuel to a lifetime vow. Samuel did not take the vow. No choice?
So seems to me… God had Samuel. All the way. He walked with Samuel and God filled his every need emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally.
Think about it. Imagine what God will do for us, loving us so much that we don’t even consider… walking away.

Good morning family
Jesus said be wise as serpents but gentle as doves Matthew 10:6
Kindness is a virtue that reflects the very nature of God. It is a fruit of the Spirit, a mark of those who walk with him. The Bible tells us to love our neighbors and to show compassion and care for the week. To be a light in this dark world, but while kindness and Godly discernment is necessary not all that come with open hands have pure hearts.
Always remember the enemy will get to you through indirect attacks and send people your way who will take advantage of your kindness and who will drain you emotionally, spiritually, and possibly financially. While we are called to help always be in touch with the spirit and have the discernment that is necessary.
Hope you all have a wonderful day God bless you.
Today Lord I just pray that you send the discernment necessary for the ministry of each of my brothers and sisters. Today oh God put a hedge of protection around their minds and hearts today oh Lord just watch over them guide and direct them in the ministry for which you have chosen them to be in. Please heavenly Father keep a special edge of protection around my family in my absence.

Good morning
Psalm 55:21
The words of his mouth (Absalom...David's son)were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart:his words were softer than oil,yet were they drawn swords.
Like David's son...
Some people are smooth talkers, but their intentions are to stab you in the back.
Judas is another good example of this.
Verse 23 starts of saying...
Psalm 55:23a
But thou,O God,shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction.
It's not our job to bring them down...
God says that HE will take care of it...
Have a blessed day...
LET'S GO GETTUM!!!!!
Lives Depend On It

Good morning
"For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?” Romans 3:3 Certainly Not!
Let us just let that question settle a minute. While I give you some verses before this..
“For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.” Romans 2:24
When we live like we have fire insurance instead of living like we serve a risen Savior with a JUST Father and a helper of His Spirit which is Holy…we in effect cause unbelievers to turn away from God.
Their unbelief does not effect God’s faithfulness, but do we hold some responsibility for their unbelief?
“When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.” Ezekiel 3:18
To ignore those without faith in Christ is to allow them to die.
And their blood is on our hands.
How we live matters. How we serve or not serve matters. Where, when and how we speak the Gospel or if we do not speak the Truth...matters.
Lives depend on it.

Trust in the process

Acts 8:4
Those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria preached Christ to them.
Growing up in a farm-based community I had the chance to use a broadcaster when we would seed. The only problem with the broadcaster is that you couldn't quite put your seed where you wanted it it would sometimes go in adverse places in scatter the seed where you did not plan, but eventually the process of time would evolve in the seed would grow.
In the book of Acts the early Christians were scattered and when Philip went down to Samaria trusting in God The word spread about Jesus Christ.
Trust in the process God knows what he's doing all that we have to do is Christians is to spread the seed of love in the word of God
Thank you Lord for another day and the breath in our lungs and other opportunity to broadcast the word. Thank you for my brothers and sisters that you have placed in my life and I pray hedge of protection over their minds and give them the courage and strength to broadcast. Please just put a special hedge of protection around my family in my absence.
Amen

Good morning
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” Psalms 23
As the Pastor has challenged us to recite scripture. I got to thinking about what I have memorized in the past and what I can recite now. How much I have lost or have still. I would like to say it is age that makes me unable to recite; but It is not.
It is lack of discipline.
I used to memorize and recite 3-4 verses or sections every week… now not at all.
So within 8 years of my journey I now know less, not more.
That is shameful.
So it is time to rectify this mistake and memorize and retain.
This Psalm is popular to memorize. It is one of my favorites. The 34th and the 119th are also; the 119th is the LONGEST Psalm, but I am going to keep working toward it.
Can you imagine there is dystopian society and you are able to BE the oracle of God by speaking His word and bring others to the knowledge of Christ? Ok fine maybe dystopia is too much but you get the idea…
recite, retain.
Just out of curiosity do you have this Psalm memorized?

“And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
I Timothy 6:8-9
I have never been around the billionaire class or even the millionaire class. I have been around wealthy people and most of them are very unhappy.
I have a neighbor that is rarely home. Day or night. GORGEOUS home on the outside.
I see no children, no cars of guests, no smells of a grill. No laughter or any noise at all. Not even at Thanksgiving or Christmas.
It makes me wonder do they just work to pay for their things?
I have made a habit of praying for them. And if I ever catch them at home I would love to engage and invite them to church. I have NO idea who they are or what is happening but God does.
We can get in over our head in this world. Especially when we dip our toes in the pool of sin.
If the Bible says don’t , why do we do it, do we really think the don’t doesn’t apply to me?
Why? We cannot take it with us, do we accumulate, store, house and buy more?
We are not of this world, no-one STAYS in this world forever. NO one has ever taken anything With them when they leave. Sinner nor Saint.
Accumulate heavenly treasures!
The world will pass away.

Psalms 98 8 through 9
Let the rivers clap their hands, let the hills be joyful together before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness he said judge the world, and the people with equity.
Let us sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done a marvelous thing. In my life and testimony all I know is what it was like, what happened, and what it's like now. That is enough to give him praise in my mind even in a not so pleasant situation .Everything may not be going according to my plan or my way, but I must remember and never forget who is in control Romans 8:28 reminds us that he works all things together for good.
Today I pray for you brothers and sisters who read this sincerely. I pray that your mind and your actions be focused on the kingdom. I pray today that you take a step out and faith and present the gospel in some kind of way to someone that desperately needs to hear the kind words of Jesus saying come to me all you who are weary and of heavy labor just remember the work that he done in you he can also do through your words amen. Today I just asked Lord that you put a hedge of protection around my brothers and sisters special angel dispatch to my family to keep them under a hedge of protection until my return thank you Amen
To Gift or Not to Gift

Good morning
“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:7-10
We hear often in God’s word about gifts. I believe the gifts are aimed at us in this time, just as strongly as it was in Peter’s time.
If we do not use our gifts do you believe that is sin?
Absolutely I believe this.
I do not have any anxiety or fear while using my gifts. I am not nervous while. I may be prior but NEVER during.
I often after have a ‘wow where did that come from’ moment.
The Holy Spirit just moves in me.
And not once that I can recall; have I had an ‘oh I shoulda _____’ thought.
The end is near.
You choose how you leave… serving and loving God while serving and loving others..or…
choose self.

“John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.””
John 1:26-27
John was one of a kind. When I think of where John might be if he came today I think he might be a Billy Graham. Is it not so very sad that Billy Graham is the only man I know of to compare to John the Baptist? Some 2000 years later???
Every single one of us love the world. Every. Single. One. Of. Us.
Otherwise why aren’t we crying out!!!! Behold! The Lamb of God; who takes away the sin of the world.
I do know when Jesus is coming and if you have read the Bible you do too. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
When He comes or when we die I believe strongly within my soul that speaking the Truth of the Gospel; God’s love, will be the BIGGEST deficit among us that know Him.
And second will be reading, studying and knowing His Word.
And third ..prayer; speaking with Him and LISTENING to Him.
It is not too late until your last breath or the Trumpet sounds.
I do not want to see disappointment on Jesus face…in His eyes.
Know Him; make Him known

Create in me a clean heart

Psalms 51:10
Create in me a new clean heart, oh God filled with clean thoughts and right desires
As the alloy of iron is attracted to a magnet so is our soul attracted hungry and thirsting for righteousness from God. We must seek daily this reprieve. The psalmist David knew of all of the things in the world riches, strength, and pretty much anything that he wanted to do in the world. Which let him to sing oh God thou are my God Early will I seek the My soul thirst for the My flesh longest for the in a dry and thirsty land wear no water is.
God is the only thing that can quench our spiritual thirst and striving to quence that thirst is where we need to find ourselves each and every day. He says if we knock upon the door he will open it.
Today brothers and sisters I pray that you seek after the water that can quench your soul I pray that the holy Spirit opens your mind and heart to the word of God and that we put forward the effort to go towards the water that everlasting water. I pray that a hedge of protection be put it all around my brothers and sisters and a special hedge of protection around my family and my absence.
Amen
The Value of a Soldier

Thursday February 6, 2025
The value of a soldier is never known in times of peace
Remember when Jesus was talking to Peter and he said that Satan wishes to have you and I have prayed for you that you're faith not fail and when you come through this strengthen your brother.
The trials that we go through are not only to test our faith but when we get on the other side of it we can strengthen our brothers and sisters who are going thru the same.
Always remember that God had a son that was righteous and holy but did not have a son without a cross. We're not promised an easy walk in this life of salvation but a walk with the one that's been there and done all the above

“the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
Ephesians 1:18
“Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.”
Psalms 119:18
"The eyes of those who see will not be dim, And the ears of those who hear will listen.”
Isaiah 32:3
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.”
Revelation 3:19
I woke up with a song in my heart and on my mind.
‘Open my eyes to your heart Lord’
God carries me through and used some of you to do it.
Thank you for all the prayers.
Remember when we tell each other our troubles and sin we are able to have others pray also. Which gives others the chance to be
a blessing and allows them to be blessed also.

Inventory - Matthew Chapter 7
Good morning. Funny thing is I was starting to do my devotions this morning at 5:30 and a man come and knocked on my door and said let's go ahead and load you out lol. I was working on sharing this with y'all this morning because I think it's very important.
In Matthew 7 21 through 23
Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but the one that does the will of my father who is in heaven
For business it is very important that we know what is on our shelves and that the business takes inventory so that when a customer calls they know that they have the inventory to cover the order The business will lose customers if they find that their inventory was not properly kept up with and that they could not cover the order that was promised to the customer. Likewise it is good to know what is on your spiritual shelf. The last thing that we want to encounter is that we have been here doing all of these things without taking the inventory that we need to be of the truth. It is one thing for a business to lose a sale but it is another to lose your soul thinking that you are doing right. Take a deep inventory of yourself, pray to God, talk to your pastor, and know without a shadow of a doubt that there's nothing but truth in your inventory.
Today I pray that my brothers and sisters will take a deep inventory of themselves and that the holy Spirit would speak to their hearts and minds put a hedge of protection around My brothers and sisters and put a special edge of protection around my family in my absence

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made - Psalms 139
Fearfully and wonderfully made is a phrase from Psalms 139 in the good book.
It refers to the idea that God created each person with great care and attention. This phrase can be used to express gratitude and awe towards the one who made us.
Sometimes we do not feel worthy, or Satan tries to hold our heads down in sin that we committed. One thing, my brothers and sisters, we must look up and see the cross. We must see through our sin the payment of Christ on the cross that covers all sin has already been made. It's done, it's over with God paid all. Once we see this and accept this in our lives we will no longer have to look down, we will see that we, both you and I are wonderfully made in the eyes of God.
Satan has no foothold. We can rely on the strength that God gives us to carry on with our heads held high knowing that we are who we are in Christ.
Today I pray, brothers and sisters, that whatever is holding us down that we release it to God who has made us conquerors and turn away from whatever it is to the cross and know that we are forgiven and we must now live according to his planning purpose.
Look for your calling, it's closer than you think. Tell someone about Jesus. Become more involved today than yesterday.
